| The Air Force 1 Shoe was released in 1982. The name was coined in reference to The Air Force One, the famous air trainsport for the President of the United States of America. The shoe was popular in the early 1980s and then again in the late 1990s and continues its popularity today especially in the hip hop community where it is seen as an important symbol of the culture. These shoes are one of the most popular and sought models in Nike’s range and have been released in countless colourways and collaborations. The shoe originally came in a low top and a high top, the latter featuring a removable strap. In 1994 they also added a Mid top to the lineup with a non-removable strap.
