Nike Shox

The first nike shox were released in 2001 after over 20 years of research and various failed attempts. At the original time of testing, back in the late 80’s, nike could not find any material that would provide sufficient resistance in the heel. After various attempts at using coil springs in the early 90’s Nike finally hit a winner in 1997. Nike came across new space age materials that were perfect for the task and began developing the shox mechanism that is so well known today.

The current shox models use a patent mechanism made from, high tech, high durability materials and features four cushioning columns between two resilient plates.   The result is an effective cushioning system with a high energy return. Since their release there has been dozens of colourways and numerous different styles incorporating the Shox system.
